These goats are my passion! I love them dearly. 
We do not sell any of these goats into the slaughter market. 
They are sold as either pets or for breeding stock.

I love these goats and have dedicated my life to ensure that they are still here in their pure form for others to enjoy in the future. This is an Endangered Species - this is a Breed of Goat that Originated in Canada - we need to Preserve them.

We need Breeders who are serious about raising and preserving this valuable heritage breed. Breeders who will breed for the facial and body characteristics that make them what they are and not just concentrate on the "fainting" aspect.

Just because they "faint" doesn't make them a Myotonic Goat!!

Our goats are very important to us and are monitored 24 hours a day all year round with a baby monitor in both barns. I can hear everything that goes on out there. You would not believe how many lives that monitor has saved.

Our herd of goats is protected by 5 very loyal, protective Great Pyrenees. They really do care about their goats and keep all predators away from them.

Our doe herd is permanently closed with the last doe coming in October 31, 2006. No other does will be purchased. The buck herd is closed with the last ones coming in from a tested herd in the States June 2007. I think we have enough bloodlines in our buck herd so we may never need to bring in new lines. If the need arises we would look to the States to introduce new bloodlines - however if this happens it will be from breeders that have tested their herds. 

We have never had have any problems with CL or sore mouth in our herd and no symptoms of CAE. When we were purchasing stock we took every precaution to keep our herd clean. Any new animal brought in had a long strict quarantine time of at least 4 months. No one is allowed in the goat pens or barns. Goats do not leave the farm, I don't show and I have never purchased goats from Auction Sales.

We have a variety of unrelated bloodlines from all across Canada and several different bloodlines from the US.  A rainbow of colors in our herd including; chocolate brown, brown & white, blonde & white, black & white, red & white, rusty red, tri-colors and quad colored. We have blue eyes, marble blue and the rare ice blue eyes too, with black pigment - both in the does and bucks!! Our goats range in size from medium to large, both polled and horned, skirted, long haired and short haired. 

 Our goats are handled everyday and all are use to having me around. We try to tame everyone but there are some who don't want the attention so we give them their space. Pushing the issue just stresses them so we give them the time they want - sooner or later they come around.

My goats are not considered a business, but as family members - each and every one. They come first over everything - just ask my husband!! 

Goats are social creatures and have strong family bonds. Each Doe lives here with a family unit. They have a daughter or two, sometimes a son (wether), many also have siblings along with their offspring to share their lives with. I have family units here consisting of Mom, daughters, grandkids and soon will be great grandkids; every night those entire family units bed down together. 
I do this for a reason - to keep my Goats happy and content. It just becomes extremely hard when one of those family members have to go on to a new home. It breaks my heart.

 Our goats are dewormed, deloused and hooves trimmed when necessary. They have free access to proper minerals and salt. In the summer months they have access to pasture and bush as well as top quality grass hay. In the winter months we feed a grass/alfalfa mix hay. 

We raise happy, healthy goats that are raised as stress free and as close to natural as we possibly can. We provide our goats with a playground consisting of large rocks, a huge high dirt pile, a gravel pile, large fallen trees and all kinds of large spools. Our goats are happy and content - they bring much joy and happiness to our world and we want them to bring the same to you.

We breed our Does for the first time, at 2 years of age. This allows them time to grow during their biggest growth time so they can reach their full frame size in order to carry the muscle mass that they will develop later. Breeding too soon can cause leg and foot problems, stunt their growth - not to mention difficult births that can result in the death of the kid, doe or both!

We breed our Does once a year with kidding normally in April, May and June. The Does are rested for a year every two to three years. Does can get back into condition and replenish their bodies with nutrients lost raising their kids. That makes for a healthier doe, good pregnancies and healthy bouncy kids again the next time.

Our bucks are kept in a different area, away from the Does so that there are no surprise babies. During breeding season one buck will be placed in with the does that he will be breeding. 

Does are carefully selected for each buck, they must complement each other. A lot of time is spent studying each animals assets and faults so that the best kids will be produced from each mating.

We have separate breeding areas for each buck and his selected does. We know who the father is of all the kids born here and can supply unrelated stock.

All kiddings are supervised so we are there to help if a problem should arise.

Bucklings are weaned at about 2 - 3 1/2 months of age depending on his hormones and the condition of the Doe. They have a transition period of two weeks after being taken off mom before they will be allowed to go to their new home.

Doelings/Wethers are weaned at the earliest 3 months of age, depending on condition of the doe. They will be taken off mom at 3 months and will have a transition time of two weeks before moving on to their new home.

Having a transition period after weaning not only allows the kid time to adjust to not having mom around and her milk, it also assures that the rumen is developed enough to handle the extra roughage that the kid will be eating. If they are still nursing a fair amount they need time to adjust to life with more food without the milk. If the rumen is not developed enough they cannot digest the food and major problems, even death can result. 

The stress of weaning and going to a new home all at the same time can be too much for some kids to handle as well. I've had kids come down with major belly pains after weaning and had to put them back on the does for a while longer. Having this transition period will result in a healthy stress free weaning and a happy kid going to it's new home.
